Durkan at Hospitality Design Expo 2010

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So is good design. For Durkan, it's about style, quality and sustainability. It's about saving time, money and the environment—without sacrificing aesthetics or performance. It's also about flexibility—to create a custom-fit pattern or color palette that is perfect for your project—at price points that won’t break your budget. And it's about realizing that the possibilities of good design are limitless.

We've taken a different approach to HD Expo 2010. In fact, we've taken a step back to focus on design—the process, the technology, the inspiration, the talent—rather than just on the products for the floor. You'll meet the winners of our first D*SCOVER carpet design competition, which was established in partnership with NEWH (The Network of The Hospitality Industry) to encourage and exhibit the talent of hospitality designers, while contributing toward the education of future designers. You'll explore Creative Design Patterns, fashion-forward carpet patterns housed in an online portfolio. You'll see new collaborations with featured designers Todd Oldham, Virginia Langley and Tracy Lee Stum, as well as the latest in printed broadloom, CYP (computer yarn placement), Synthesis™ (pattern and texture) and Merit tufted (rooms) offerings.

Experience it all here in our online media kit—complete with downloadable press releases and high resolution images—or better yet, join us in Las Vegas at our booth (#3804). Discover your eye for good design at HD Expo 2010. Hope to see you there!

D*SCOVER
New design talent has been discovered! The winners of D*SCOVER, Durkan's first ever hospitality carpet design contest, will be announced at HD Expo. Meet them and see the designs that "won" the judges over.
Synthesis™
Putting a contemporary and textured twist on the movement of nature, Durkan introduces eight new base grades for its Synthesis™ offerings, using the beauty of the outdoors to infuse new life into traditional organic design.
Print
Leveraging advanced spectronics technology to produce elaborate patterns, precise details and saturated colors, Durkan strengthens the staying power of printed hospitality carpet with several new additions, including Special Effects, Augustina and collections from design collaborators Todd Oldham (Supernature) and Tracy Lee Stum (So-dalicious).
CYP (Computer Yarn Placement)
High style at affordable prices: a mantra of consumers around the world, it's also a key criteria for today's hospitality designers. Durkan's advanced CYP tufting technology continues to provide exquisite alternatives to more expensive woven options with its latest offerings including Blantyre, L’Auberge and Myriad, a new collection from designer Virginia Langley.
Merit Rooms
Guestrooms and suites have never been more chic or so eco-friendly, thanks to new innovations from Merit. On the Runway struts sophisticated style without the typical minimums of full custom orders while EcoSense, the industry's first 26 oz. weight guestroom option, helps save the environment and decrease costs by using fewer raw materials.
Sustainable Innovation
Sustainability is smart—for business and for the environment. Durkan makes specifying hospitality floorcoverings simpler, smarter and more sustainable with Creative Design Patterns, which offer a new way to experience the design process, and Merit's EcoSense lower weight carpet.
